Playing Catch-up

Sorry there hasn't been anything fun to look at. We thought my son was getting better after last week-end, but sadly that's not the case. I was running him to the doctor and for more tests last week, tomorrow we go to a specialist.
In the meantime, I thought I'd at least get a Father's day card up before Father's day. No such luck. I spent all day Friday doubled over in pain. Saturday I was much better, but the pain returned on Sunday and I had to be rushed to the hospital. I will tell you, the quickest way to be seen in an emergency roon without having to wait is to be brought it screaming in pain. Guess how I found that out?
So several hours, many tests and much pain later, the doctors sent me home with pain meds and no real clue as to what is wrong. I had three different doctors, and they sent me home with three different diagnoses. They really were just guessing by the end of the night. The first doctor was sure it was an ulcer. The second was pretty sure it was diverticulitis. Thank goodness, it's not that. My mom has it, and it's not fun. The third doctor felt sure it must be a kidney stone. Basically because she didn't know what else it could be, and I had a tiny amt. of blood in my urine.
I, on the other hand, am fairly certain it is *not* a kidney stone. I've had one before, and this was entirely different. Plus, when I asked the doctor how my worst symptom (horrible sudden bloating that made me feel like my stomach was about to expload) fit in with the kidney stone diagnosis, she said , "well, it doesn't really". I tried to explain that that was the absolute worst part of my pain, but she just shrugged it off. I guess if a symptom doesn't fit in with what you want to diagnose, you just ignore it altogether.

So now I have to follow up with my doctor, and let them figure it out. Sunday's episode was the 3rd one I've had in 2 weeks, but by far the worst. Hopefully someone can figure it out instead of just masking the pain with pills.

I am also still aggrevated with blogger that the spam blog business has not been cleared up, so I may be moving to Typepad or another blog hosting service soon.

Thanks for listening to me ramble. Say some prayers for my son Lucas, we are really getting concerned here.

Thanks!

Laura
