new pics tomorrow

So, I did have new card pictures for you today- at least, I took new pictures. I am just way too tired to upload, crop and post them. My baby boy Lucas had to come home from school sick today, and he is really sick. Poor baby! Wow- I am so tired that I just keep yawning- so I'm off to bed. Look for some new stuff tomorrow (which is actually today, since it's almost 2am here!!= so I guess if you are reading this, it will just be later today)

c u soon~

Baby Onsie Card

Last night I taught a class using Lauren Meader's directions for the baby onsie. I told the class I'd link it here, so here it is:
Baby Onsie Tutorial

I have to go teach a class now, but I'll be posting more later today. Thanks for stopping by!

Some pictures from Easter

Posting pictures for my family from Easter. They are not the greatest- these were taken long after church, so everyone is all mussed up already. I usually put the boys in matching or at least coordinating outfits for holidays. I had some very nice matching shirts for them, short sleeve madras in green and blue. When I got them last fall, I didn't realize Easter was so early this year. It was way too cold for those shirts, and I didn't think about it until too late, so their nice new sweaters weren't clean either. Oh well! These were all taken at my Mom's house.

Dave and Loren are in the background, coming back from flying a kite down the street. Lucas is refusing to give me a nice smile for a picture:

Lucas is still being silly about smiling, and Loren just would not stop acting goofy:

Terrible picture of me with my silly, goofy, messy kids :D

My crazy mom interupting an otherwise really nice picture of my brother Christopher and his wife Nicole.

Chris and Nicole are Aunt and Uncle to baby Nicolas. I have a really adorable picture of Nicolas to post soon. He is doing better after the trach operation, and hopefully will be going home soon, although he will still have a feeding tube-poor little guy!

Funny little color challenge card

Late again for the color challenge round-up. I kept checking all day yesterday, because I thought Kristina had been posting the challenges on Tuesdays. I finally saw the challenge this morning, but I have been sooo busy today, I just couldn't get to it. I made a card anyway, as it seems these challenges really help motivate me to make things I otherwise would not have made. This card is a perfect example- I'm not even sure if I like it.

Okay, here's my funny little card:

It is what it is. It evolved from an idea I had to case the technique booklet cover, to something else, to something else again. It was supposed to be 4x4, but I should have realized to cut the card a little wider, so that after I added the strips, I could trim the sides to make everything neat and tidy. So it wound up being 4" x, oh I don't know- maybe 3-3/4".

I used the SAB rub-ons for the sentiment and the little black leaves, and also in the flower centers. Everything is SU! except for the black brad and the little tiny punched flower center.
I think I would really love this in spring colors. LMK what you think.

I'm adding a link on my sidebar to the tutorials page at Stamp n' Scrap Ideas. There is a directory of links to over 600 tutorials and techniques with new techniques being added all the time.
Also, if you have a new tutorial that you've posted on your blog or elsewhere, you can add it to the tutorials page and it will be linked back to your original tutorial on your blog. Cool, huh?

Just Smile and Wave

Overheard on Easter- me & my mom in the kitchen, husband and (almost)10 yr old son Lucas in the adjoining living room.

Mom and I perked our ears up when we hear my son Lucas say out of the blue,

"Daddy? I know the answer to all your problems!"

(Daddy): "Oh really? What's that?"

(Lucas): "Just smile and wave".

OMG!!! I thought I was going to bust a gut from laughing so hard. I just about fell off my chair. LOL!!

Oh son, if only it were that easy.

With a little investigating we found out that this particular bit of wisdom originated with the movie Madagascar, but it was just soooo funny. And even funnier, I don't know what made him think of it. He's only seen that movie a couple of times, and the last time was months ago.

I was reminded of that little funny this morning when I was doing a little blog-hopping and came across this quote:

“Smile, breathe and go slowly.” (Zen monk, Thich Nhat Hanh)

I found that quote at Zenhabits, after follwing a link from Ali Edwards. (like I said, blog-hopping!)

Hope everyone had a Blessed and Happy Easter.

Kristina's Color Challenge

I made a card for Kristina's color challenge this week.

The colors are:
Groovy Guava
Blush Blossom
So Saffron
Wild Wasabi

I was sooo bummed that I wasn't able to get this loaded in time for her round-up. Here it is anyway- hope you like it! Its a spinner card- I actually case'd myself. I borrowed the layout and stamped images from a one of my BSS spinner class cards. I was in a hurry, and I could picture exactly how I wanted to layer the colors in my head so I just went with it.

I actually thought the green in the inspiration picture looked more celery than wasabi, but that could just be my monitor. I used the wasabi anyway, because that was the challenge color, and y'know what? I love it!!!

I sincerely doubt I would have ever put these 4 colors together on my own- so thanks, Kristina- awesome inspiration picture :)

I've been tagged!

I was tagged by Sue!
The rules of the game:
• Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
• Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself on your blog, we all want to know them.
• Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
• Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Here are my 7 (very)random facts:

•I always wanted to be a mom and an artist.
• I love art, cats, and the color pink. (um-oh yeah. And stamping-lol.)
• I love swimming, camping, and letterboxing-esp. with the kids. I injured my right foot very badly and it took about 3 years to heal. It will never be the same, but it is healed enough now to go hiking/letterboxing, bike-riding and camping again with the kids this summer- I can't wait.
• I am a total Francophile. I took 6 years of French, and even though I'm pretty rusty, I could get by just fine if I had to hop on a plane to France right now. I got to go to Paris on my honeymoon, and it was amazing. I remember every minute of it as clear as yesterday- I even had my 25th birthday while we were there.
•I cut my hair about a year ago for the first time in 20 years. I had trims, and even cut up to 4 inches off every few years, but it was the first time I had actually really cut my hair in 20 years. I cut it all off myself-about 2 feet or so. The pic on my blog now is post-haircut :( And yes, it all went to Locks of Love.
•The births of both my sons were all natural, Bradley births. My husband and I are big believers in The Bradley Method of natural childbirth. I delivered my son Loren while on my hands and knees (not part of the plan, but a real trip, and virtually pain free, even with no drugs!)
•I'm a Veteran. I joined the army reserves when I was only 17- had to get my parents to sign for me because I wasn't "legal" yet. I served overseas during the Persian Gulf War in Mucast, Oman- just south of Saudi Arabia. I got out after almost 10 years, and really regret not doing the full 20 and getting retirement benefits. (I'd be done now!)

So now I am tagging...
Carrie, Heather, Connie, Tina, Elyssa, and Donna
That's only 6, but it's time to take the kids to religion now, so that's it for now. Have fun checking out these ladies' blogs- they're great!

Rose Cottage Card

My Stamp Club is making flip books today using the Rose Cottage Simply Scrappin' kit From SU!. I'll be posting pictures of that project later, after the club meeting is over. For now, I am sharing this card because I wanted to show everyone how versatile these kits are. here's the card:

You'll have to excuse the lightness of the photo again- it's another scan. Anyway, here are the card details:
All the cardstock, designer paper, and the sentiment is from the Rose Cottage kit.
The middle of the build-a brad is also a piece from the kit, but unfortunately, you can't see it in the scan.

Color Stripes

Oohhh! you must, must check this out. Waaaayyyy cool! I actually came across this in a round-about way. Someone left a comment on Kristina's blog regarding the color combo I blogged about the other day- here.

The site is a blog called Kris's Color Stripes.

Soo much fun!

Now go play :)

Edited to add: Well, while I'm at it, you may as well check out this blog for inspiration prints-just awesome!

okay, NOW go play-lol!

Simple thank-you

Just a simple thank-you note made with the level 2 hostess set Spring Solitude from Stampin' Up! I've been really, crazy busy lately. I say that alot, but wow, is it ever true right now. However, I didn't want to leave my bloggin' friends sittin' around bored, so I thought I'd post at least a little something to look at.

I made this one last month. I've seen variations of it around. It's really simple and quick, but I really like it. I think it looks fresh and clean and pretty.

Sorry the picture is so light. It is a scan instead of a photo, and the scans have just been very washed out looking, for some reason.

The colors are So Saffron, Soft Sky, and Certainly Celery.
The ribbon is SU! wide grosgrain in celery. It matches the Celery ink much better IRL.

Take care!

Yummy Color Combo

OMG!! These colors are so yummy together! I will list them here, but really, you need to click the link and go look at the inspiration picture that Kristina put on her blog- I WANT that room with the pink fireplace and orange and pink walls-lol! My pink passion file cabinet would fit right in.

The colors are:

Chocolate Chip, Purely Pomegranate, Pumpkin Pie, Pretty in Pink

Another Cool Copic Technique

Gina K has a tutorial on her blog for a direct to rubber copic technique. Check it out here.

I am still plugging away at my class samples, in between sick kids and all kinds of crazy stuff. Today it was water in the basement, which only promises to get worse since we got a bunch of snow over the week-end, and it is supposed to be warming up in a day or so. I'm happy about the warming up part, but the tons of melted snow flooding my basement part doesn't help my stress level any. ah- c'est la vie, right?

Anyway- I will get a sample up here tomorrow, I have a couple of things already photographed that I haven't shared yet.

'til then!

Another C&C card

This one is from C&C 108 on Sudsol.

This one isn't from a C&C, it's one of the cards we did in club in February:

more details later- I've been really busy working on new samples for my Buffalo Stamps & Stuff Classes, which is why I haven't posted any samples in a few days. I will have more to post tomorrow, though!

Stay tuned :)

Punch Storage Ideas

Saw this punch storage idea on SCS. It is similar to another punch storage idea I posted on my blog last fall, except you can get these cool hanging bars right at IKEA. I love the clean look of it.

As I was browsing, I also came across this awesome punch storage shelf. Apparently the person who owns it had it custom built by a friend. Looks awesome- wish I had room for a shelf like this!

Lastly, here is a really inexpensive option if you have the floor space for it. This would be especially nice for the big marvy mega and giga punches, too. I loved this idea, because you can find these racks at garage sales or thrift stores pretty easily for just a couple of bucks.

I've been meaning to post a picture of my friend Deb's new horse, PJ. Actually, PJ belongs to Debbie's daughter, Jessica. Deb just sent me new photo, so I thought I'd share it:

Isn't he pretty? Lucas and Loren keep asking when they can ride him. They've never been on horse before, so I can't wait to see what they think when they see him up close!
