Copic Markers

I went to the Adventures in Stamping Convention in Ohio yesterday, and I was totally psyched about the Copic Markers demo. They are so cool! They are very pricey, but oh-so-worth-it! For me, it will have to be something I collect by the piece, or ask for as b-day/Christmas gifts, probably (sadly, a long way off). But I have been wanting to get the prismacolor markers anyway. I'm so glad I waited! I am working on class samples for Sharon right now, but hopefully will be able to squeeze in a copic marker sample for you guys soon, so you can see what the fuss is all about. I'll elaborate more tomorrow, but for now, check out the link . Lots of info. on the site.

I'm off to bed. busy day tomorrow.

Congratulations!
e-mail me with your full snail mail address so I can send out your goodies to you!

I did not post ad-ons to the blog candy over the week-end- we were really busy this week-end. I will however, be including them in the package. They include, among other things, a package of tabs punched from SU! and Bazzil paper, punched with the new SU! tab punch, (separate baggies, so you know which is SU! only), a small baggie with brass charms, and a couple of yards each of various trims, yarns and fibers.

Have fun!

Another Doodle This Card

Another sample from Stamper's Showcase. I need to get some pics of my own stuff taken so I can post them here. I've just been sooo busy, and I don't have anywhere specific set up yet as a "picture" area. The scanner doesn't like to communicate with the computer these days, either. Anyway, this was made by Carrie Rhoades. I can't get enough of this doodle set, (Doodle This) and I really love the dyed twill with the buckle. She dyed the twill with the Cranberry Crisp ink refil. The card base color is So Saffron. Btw- Sharon from Buffalo Stamps & Stuff just got some really fun doodle sets in from Stampendous! They were so cute, I couldn't decide what to get. I'd love to get them all

Friday's Fun Stuff

More fun stuff to add to the blog candy. You'll get a whole package of these cute little clips. The quarter is there to show the size. I'm also including a package of real pressed flower stickers. I imagine as I am packing up the box, I'll find a few other things to put into the package as well. Sunday I am going to the Adventures in Stamping Convention in Ohio, so you never know what I might find while there to add to this package. If you have not yet entered to win, just scroll down to my "how to win" post and post a comment there. Thanks for checking out my blog!

Blog Candy-How to win

Okay, I had to fight with the computer again today, so I didn't get to post this earlier. (sorry) Basically, all you have to do to enter to win the yummy blog candy I'm giving away is post a comment to this post about what you think of my new blog. Be kind-remember I'm new to this- but be honest. It can be as simple as "I like it" or "I hate it", or you can lmk what you might like to see in this space. Just click on comments below this post to post your comment. If you have trouble for some reason, e-mail me with your comment and I'll count you in.
I found a cool gadget on line, a link that chooses random numbers for you, so that's how I'll pick the winner. You have until midnight Sunday to post a comment.
The winner will recieve 6 -8.5 x 11 sheets of chipboard- 2 different alphabets; 2 sheets of frames, tabs, flourishes, etc.; 1 sheet of numbers/punctuation/brackets, and 1 sheet of flowers, birds, and other larger shapes. Also included is a set of papers from Die Cuts With a View. You'll recieve 1 of each design from the Once Upon A Time stack. They are 8x8 cardstock weight printed papers, and they are gorgeous. I've also thrown in 2 new ribbon spools from Michaels that perfectly match these papers, an assortment of Prima flowers and leaves, an assortment of ribbon and a Memory Boutique 29 pc. accessory pack. I'll be adding in more goodies to this mix each day until Sunday. Some will be SU!, some non-SU! Here's a sneak peek:

Doodle This

I found this really pretty card while browsing the samples on the SU! site. It was stamped by Nancy Brundidge, and is made with the Doodle This set from the spring mini catalog. I believe the colors are Barely Banana and Bashful Blue.
I love how she used the doodle flower on the side and cut around it as a border. The subtle doodle border on the white around the phrase is really pretty too. The soft clors of this card, paired with the use of the blue gingham ribbon puts me in mind of a baby card. I love when someone uses a stamp in such a way that you start to really think about what else you could do with it.

For another such card, check out the third page of my art gallery on my SU website, here.

Look at the fabulous wedding card using Blooming with Happiness and Doodle This in a really imaginative way. It's really, really pretty!

Wax Resist Geishas

One more wax-paper resist sample. This was my swap card for convention way back in 2002. The Geishas and the characters on the side are from a beautiful Stampin' Up! set called Asian Art. Unfortunately, it is now retired. Oh, and yes, I know there is a marker smudge on the geishas, but I swapped all my good samples at the convention. ;-)

Okay- off to bed now- it's very late. More fun stuff tomorrow. Oh- and I picked up some cool stuff for the Blog Candy I promised is on the way. Keep an eye out for it soon!

Wax Paper Resist Directions.

This picture is from an A-Z Technique book swap I was in a few years ago. I did wax paper resist. I wanted to post this so you could see the directions for it. If you click the picture, it will enlarge so that you can read the directions.

Wax paper resist

I was looking through some old regional seminar pictures from the past year, and came across this awesome giraffe card. Wax paper resist is one of my favorite techniques for a fast, easy but dramatic background. You can see the directions for it in the next post. The dyed twill looks great on this card, too.

Tab Punch Bunnies

These adorable bunnies were created by Brenda Quintana. She used the new round tab punch from SU! to cover the nuggets, and used the face of the bunny from Bunny Hugs (SU! Spring mini) stamped on matching cardstock. So creative!

Ribbon Butterflies

This is a sample that was shared at one of SU!'s Regional Seminars. Clever use of ribbons, dontcha think? I also like the POP of red against the more spring-like colors. The ribbon is from an SU! Ribbon Originals set called Sweet Shop, and the bg paper is from SU! also. I think it is called Sarah. I don't know who stamped this, but like the card says, it's adorable.

Awwww! Isn't that Sweet?

This is a picture of my son Loren and Tippy, one of our kittens. The kittens are huge now, they are about 7 1/2 mos. old. The second picture is of Tippy when he was just a few weeks old. Tippy likes to sleep with people- sometimes on people-lol. This night, Loren had come out to the couch to sleep in the middle of the night. Tippy climbed right up on him and promptly went to sleep too. How cute is that?
Tippy gets his name from the fact that he is almost all black, except for about ten white hairs on the tip of his tail. Also, the tip of his tail is bent, just like his mama's. We thought the Mama (Sissy) had a broken tail when we found her, and the Vet seemed to think so too. But then Tippy was born with a bent tip, too, just like Sissy, so it must be genetic.
I will post more cat pics for the cat lovers soon. Now I need to get to work on posting card samples and info. for the stampers! Maybe I will post some cat-card samples. I am working on Card Candy for Cat-Lovers, too!
ciao from me,
meow from Tippy =^..^=

Cool Stamps from Purple Onion Designs

Hmmm... Somehow, I just lost an entire post, but then figured out how to get the html to work, so maybe that was a good thing? Anyway, check out this really gorgeous alphabet set from Purple Onion Designs . It's only $22.00 for upper, lower, numbers, punctuation, and brackets. Awesome deal!

They also have some very cool swirls and flourishes in their vintage section. Pretty cool, huh?

Check back soon- I will be posting more cool links and some photos in a bit.

Blogging

Well, when I started this blog, I had every intention of keeping up with it on a regular basis. Somehow, though, it got put on the back burner the last few weeks, just as was getting started with it. Personal problems (boring to anyone but me and my family), and (mainly) a really frustrating problem with the computer kept me from posting. The computer was running really, really slow, and it wasn't wanting to work well, either. It's still slow, but at least it's back to it's normal, sort of slow self- instead of the mind-numbingly slow snail's pace it was working at before. Dave did something to it. Don't know what, don't care. As long as it's better, and all my files are intact, I'm happy.

I also figured out during the last few weeks that the poblem I was having with using html in my posts is another problem with my computer, not part of my computer illiteracy, as I previously thought. So, whenever I get a chance, I will post links, etc. from someone else's computer.

For now, I will do what I can, and try to post lots of cool links and photos to make up for such a long break!

Laura :)
